Sound Heritage Study Day Two

On 11 March, a mix of new and previous participants converged on Chawton House Library, formerly owned by Jane Austen's brother, Edward Austen Knight, for the second Sound Heritage study day.

In bucolic surroundings on a beautiful spring day in Chawton (Hampshire), the study day addressed issues concerning musical instrument conservation in heritage properties and the range of possibilities that exist for incorporating scores and instruments into historic narratives.  The event also included a trip to Jane Austen's House Museum; further discussion of several points raised during the previous study day; and an informal concert that brought together different examples of domestic compositions to conclude the day.
